It Boils Down to Relationship
We believers sometimes get stuck in the picture of the New Testament church that suffered much persecution at the hands of the idol worshiping non-believers. We also sometimes get the sensation that we have to work real hard to get God to like us and want to do stuff for us. On the contrary, if we look back at the beginning when God created humanity and realise his intention for us, it becomes easier to believe that he really does want us to live in abundance, peace, and freedom.
I look at the peace Adam had when he walked with God in the dew of the morning. I look at the abundance of Abraham, Job, and David. I look at the freedom Abraham had when he separated himself from his family and their gods. His territory expanded, and he became exceedingly wealthy because he chose to have a relationship with God rather than to continue to worship his family's gods.
The bottom line is that it boils down to having a close personal relationship with the One who created and owns it all. He's not some angry guy who sits on his thone waiting for us to ask for stuff just so he can shoot it down! He is love, and he is Daddy. We are his heirs! We already own what he owns. We just have to realize it and live like we do.
Of course, there's suffering and lack, but they are the result of the sin that entered the world at the fall. The word says that all good things come from the Father. I imagine that, if that is the case, all bad things come from the enemy, and the enemy is trying to ensure that ALL believers experience his bad things. We have access to all the good, and it will come as a result of relationship with the Father.
